July 10, 2011 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Khalsa Aid Charity Sky Dive

We have some incredible news! Khalsa Aid volunteers will be attempting to break a World Record for ?The Most Tandem Sky Dives in 24 hours?.

On Sunday 10th July, we will be attempting this at Hibaldstow Airfield which currently holds this record at 128, We aim to break it at 135.

Who can do it?
If you are aged over 18 years old, or 16 years old with parental consent, and weigh no more than 16 stones, you will be able to sky dive! There is no upper age limit. However, those aged 40+ must bring a fully completed BPA Tandem Student Declaration of fitness form signed and stamped by their doctor along on the day of their jump.

When and where?
It will be on Sunday 10th July at Hilbaldstow Airfield. At 15000ft, it is the highest sky dive in the UK!

What does it entail?
It takes just 20 minutes to be briefed for the course and then you will jump harnessed to the front of a fully BPA qualified Tandem Parachuting Instructor and experience the thrill of a 120mph freefall from 15000 feet!

How does a Charity Skydive work?
Each participant must raise a minimum of ?300, of which approx ?190 will go to wards the skydive and ?110 to our chosen charity, in this scenario, Khalsa Aid.

Please spread the message to everybody and get them to email SIKHSSKYDIVE@HOTMAIL.COM with their:

Doing a Sky Dive is said to be ?once in a lifetime experience? but now this truly has become a once in a lifetime experience by attempting the break the World Record! J

We kindly ask you to set up your page on www.justgiving.com/khalsaaid urgently as the sooner it is up and running, the faster you will raise money. It only takes a couple of minutes to do! We do request that you begin fundraising as soon as possible please as you can understand organising 135 people is quite difficult so your cooperation is much appreciated.

A few frequently asked questions:

1) What if I wear a dastaar?
On the day of the Sky Dive, the tandem helmet has to be worn. One will still be able to tie a dastaar. Please do take the size into consideration as the helmet will have to fit over it; some people may have to wear their keski only if their dastaar is too large. Please note that when you will be diving, the air pressure is very strong so the chances of the dastaar staying on alone are very low. Without the helmet, your dastaar will not stay on and neither will the centre allow you to conduct the Sky Dive without it.

2) What about the kirpan?
Due to health and safety reasons, a small kirpan worn underneath the clothing will be fine. When you land, not everybody lands on their feet so please be careful how you wear your kirpan. Other people have asked about bana which is fine to wear but please note that a jumpsuit has to be worn over whatever clothing you wish to come into on the day.

TRAINERS (tightly laced) must be worn. Please do not turn up in flipflops! J More details will be given nearer the time on what to bring.

3) How about transport?
Due to the numbers and the vast number of locations, it will not be cost effective to have coaches or minibuses coming from each city. We are yet to decide on transport arrangements though. Once we have our final 135 sky divers, we will try to then arrange transport. Please note that it might be car sharing but it depends on the numbers from each city and if spectators wish to come and watch. We have a feeling that parents will want to come and watch. Maharaj kirpa, it will be an incredible day.
