At the Women Empowered event on the 24th we are talking about getting more women into higher positions. The well-known debate of having more women on boards is not dissimilar to that of more women in Parliament. Same story different profession – is positive discrimination the best way?
If there were more women in Indian Parliament would we have avoided having a list of Guidelines for girls being issued after the horrific case of gang rape in Delhi rather than sterner words for the males walking the street about their behavior or would more female representation have made no difference?
With all ethnicities and a multitude of people living in Britain, do we need a more diverse representation at Government level to ensure British politics works for us all?
We will also hear the remarkable journeys of our speakers on how they have achieved so much, sometimes in harsh environments.
