City Hindu Network Diwali Dinner
After a series of sold-out CHN Networking Dinners in 2011 (for media coverage click?here), the CHN is hosting its first Diwali Dinner in Central London.
We would like to invite our members to celebrate Diwali with us on Thursday 10?November. Diwali is an auspicious and joyful festival for many of us and we would like to mark the occasion in a special way for our members this year. We have organised a sit-down dinner, preceded by an aarti and followed by musical performances. Click here?for the event poster.
We will also be using this opportunity raising money for our partner charity?Child In Need (India) (CINI), which works at a grassroots level with local community groups and government bodies in India to bring about sustainable improvements in nutrition, health, education and protection, especially in West Bengal.
The highlight of the evening will be musical performances by Shivali Bhammer from the album??The Bhajan Project? and Gaurav Wadhwani, singer-songwriter of? the newly released song ?God is Love?.?The Bhajan Project, released by Sony Entertainment in 2010, is an album that has changed the way we think about devotional music. Instead of devotional songs played to traditional instruments such as the harmonium and tabla, Shivali?s approach is a modern one, incorporating sounds from the worlds of R&B, soul, rock and pop with a generous dose of the acoustic guitar, while maintaining the same depth and love of devotion. Likewise, Gaurav?s music, both in English and Hindi, can only be described as contemporary, upbeat and spiritual.
