Did you know 94% of Britain won’t help an Asian person with cancer it’s not because they don’t want to. They simply can’t. Why? Because for an Asian person with blood cancer, a bone marrow transplant from an Asian donor is often their only chance to survive. Currently White Northern Europeans have a 90% chance of finding a bone marrow donor. This falls to just 40% for people from Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority backgrounds. City Hindus Network is proud to partner with Anthony Nolan to reach the 6% of Britain that can help.
About Anthony Nolan:
The Anthony Nolan was the worlds first, and is the UK’s largest database of volunteer bone marrow donors. These donors provide the chance of life to patients who are suffering from bone marrow disorders like Leukaemia and have no other hope of a cure other than a transplant. Despite our achievements there are still approximately 7,000 patients desperately seeking that life saving match. We need more donors.
For this event we are particularly looking to recruit younger donors, males and donors from ethnic minority groups. We have set up an event to allow people to register as a potential stem cell donor. To join the register people need to be between the ages of 16-30, and in good health. Registering is simple just complete an application form then provide a saliva sample the whole process will take 15 minutes. Refreshments will be provided after, and an opportunity to network with other potential lifesavers. For more information on this campaign please visit http://www.anthonynolan.org/thesixpercent.
PwC Hindu Network has been so kind to host this event in their offices at One Embankment.
