* ‘A Woman’s Role’

May 13, 2012 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

* This is a non-City Sikhs event

‘A Woman’s Role’ has been organised in partnership with Women’s Interfaith Network, Tzedek and Faiths Act Fellows Charlotte Flowers and Maryam Duale.

The event is looking at the role of women in society in the UK and also in the Global South; focussing particularly on how faith shapes that.

We have invited Pinky Lilani OBE, actress Sonya Sier, Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Parm Sandhu and Faiths Act Manager, Dr Maryam Kazeem.

Over the next few months we will also be creating a short film documentary which explores the ways in which women have a vital role in all societies, and how that role is empowered and also oppressed by faith. This will be showcased at the event.

Pinky Lalani OBE: Co-founder of Women?s Interfaith Network and Owner at Spice Magic Ltd, Founder & Chairman at Global Empowerment Award, Women of the Future Awards, Asian women of Achievement Awards

Sonya Sier: Actor, film-maker, writer and director.

Parm Sandhu: Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector and superintendent – Operations Manager Olympics.

Dr Maryam Kazeem: Faiths Act Manager at The Tony Blair Faith Foundation. She worked with Nigerian Inter-Faith Action Association.
