The precise understanding of the Bhagavad-Gita conveys remains elusive, as is demonstrated by the widely differing interpretations of its meaning. This talk cover the ways in which the Gita seeks to offer a reconciliation of differing concepts, including Yoga, Samkhya, devotion and dharma and is able to emerge with a coherent revelation that is central to the contemporary Hindu tradition.
Director of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies Department of Continuing Education, Dr Nicolas Sutton is responsible for the development of the Hindu Studies Courses and their on-line classes. Widely known for his extensive work on epic theology entitled ?Religious Doctrines in the Mahabharata?, he is currently working on a translation and extended study of the Mahabharata?s Moksha-dharma-parvan.
