Tackling mental health stigma in the South Asian Community (Thurs 25 April, 6.30-8:30pm):
A year ago CHN held an event at the Metropolitan Police offices to raise awareness of mental health stigma in the South Asian community. This year, CHN in conjunction with the City of London Police, will explore the ‘shame and secrecy’ surrounding mental health illness in the South Asian community; and how the community can tackle the associated stigma. Dr Dinesh Bhugra, Professor of Mental Health and Cultural Diversity at the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London, will be presenting alongside various other speakers. A documentary on the stigma of mental health in ethnic minorities will be screened with an opportunity to ask questions to an expert Q&A panel. Canapes and refreshments will be served.
Date and timings: Thursday 25 April, 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
Venue: City of London Police, Wood Street Police Station, 37 Wood Street, London, EC2P 2NQ (nearest tube station: St Pauls).
Further details: Register via Eventbrite here. Canapes and refreshments will be served. Our 2-minutes mental health survey is here.
