CITY SIKHS & City Hindus Network Sewa Day Initiative – Volunteer in Victoria Park
Victoria Park is one of London’s most important historic parks and its oldest public park. It has been used by millions of Londoners for nearly 170 years as a place of healthy recreation, sports, play and relaxation. A park is a public space for us all to enjoy. Working together to take care of something that belongs to all of us is a way for us to connect with each other, build community spirit and a way to give back to the community. This year, City Sikhs Network and the City Hindus Network will host a joint volunteering event. The day’s activities will include pruning (trimming) of an overgrown area near the Pagoda island, bulb planting new flower beds and having fun!
Location: Meeting point – Pavilion Cafe, Royal Gate West at Victoria Park, Grove Road, Bow, London E3 (closest tube station: Mile End; or short bus ride from Canary Wharf bus 277).
Number of volunteers required: Up to 60.
What to bring: Wear warm appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and a pair of sensible boots for some light digging. You will be provided with gloves, tools and high-visibility vest / Sewa Day t-shirt.
